Retail POS to ERP Real-Time Sync

Role: Integration ArchitectPlatform: MuleSoft
Industry: RetailDuration: ~6 Months

Overview

Designed a MuleSoft integration to synchronize point-of-sale transactions from 50+ retail locations to a central ERP in near-real-time, replacing a nightly batch file process that caused inventory and revenue reporting delays.

What I Built

  • High-throughput ingestion layer capturing POS transaction payloads across 50+ store locations
  • Data normalization pipeline harmonizing payloads across 3 legacy and modern POS software versions
  • Near-real-time inventory decrement pipeline updating central ERP stock levels upon purchase completion
  • Itemized sales revenue recognition and cash/credit tender journal entry creation per transaction
  • End-of-day automated audit reconciliation balancing store terminal totals against ERP general ledgers

Architecture

Used MuleSoft’s Object Store for transactional deduplication combined with Anypoint MQ persistent queues to buffer traffic spikes during peak retail periods (holiday promotions, weekend surges), ensuring zero transaction loss and decoupled ERP ingestion.

Tech Stack

Outcome: Inventory accuracy improved from T+1 to near-real-time across all locations. Revenue reporting gap eliminated.

I’m currently open to senior integration architecture roles — both full-time and contract engagements — with a preference for remote work. If you’re evaluating integration talent or building out an iPaaS practice, I’d welcome the conversation.
