| Role: Integration Architect | Platform: Boomi |
| Industry: Distribution | Duration: ~6 Months |
Overview
Built a Boomi integration layer to extract legacy data from an IBM iSeries (AS400) system and load it into a modern cloud ERP during a major platform modernization initiative.
What I Built
- Configured secure JDBC connections to the legacy DB2 database hosted on IBM iSeries (AS400)
- Architected a staged bulk-extraction pipeline utilizing AWS S3 as an intermediate storage and staging repository
- Engineered Boomi data transformation maps converting legacy fixed-width structures to modern cloud ERP JSON/XML schemas
- Implemented incremental Change Data Capture (CDC) pipelines to maintain synchronization throughout the dual-run cutover phase
- Constructed automated reconciliation and audit queries validating record counts, field checksums, and transactional integrity
Architecture
Implemented an incremental Change Data Capture (CDC) pattern utilizing timestamp watermarks and status flags on DB2 database tables. This allowed the Boomi processes to isolate and extract modified records in discrete micro-batches, preventing performance degradation on the production AS400 core system during peak business operating hours.
Technology Stack
Outcome: Successfully migrated 5 years of transactional history. Zero data loss confirmed by reconciliation audit.
